Job Title: Occupational Therapist (Band 6)
Contract Type: Permanent

Salary Range: £39,108 - £51,580 per annum (dependent on experience/banding)
Responsible to: Occupational Therapy Clinical Specialist
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Location: Southwest London
Summary of Position
Exciting opportunity for Band 6 Occupational Therapists to join my client's Clinical Operations team. Responsibilities include preparing and administering therapeutic Occupational Therapy programs as part of a multidisciplinary team. Rotational work across the following areas:
1.Brain Injury Service (BIS)
2.Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) service
3.Ventilation service
4.Neuro-behavioural services
5.Young adults service
6.Specialist Nursing Home services
Our client is an independent hospital and medical charity caring for individuals with brain injuries requiring intensive rehabilitation for conditions like Huntington's disease and prolonged disorders of consciousness. Their specialist services include a ventilator unit and a neuro-behavioural unit. They also provide care for complex health needs and disabilities, including degenerative conditions and palliative care.
Main Objectives of the Role
·Provide specialist patient-centred assessment and treatment for complex neurological cases.
·Participate in interdisciplinary working (meetings, reviews, discharge planning, and reports).
·Ensure professionalism and excellent communication with staff, patients, and relatives.
Key Responsibilities
·Work effectively as part of a specialist multi-disciplinary team.
·Assess and treat patients with complex needs, prioritizing effectively.
·Maximize patient independence in daily living activities.
·Participate in 24-hour postural management programs, including splint assessment and provision.
·Attend key meetings (CCG reviews, safeguarding, best interest meetings).
·Support and supervise the OTA, including task allocation.
·Conduct community visits and complete timely reports.
·Attend meetings and complete documentation and outcome measures as required.
·Ensure excellent communication with patients, relatives, and team members, including key worker roles.
Qualifications & Knowledge
Essential
1.Diploma/degree/masters in Occupational Therapy recognized by COT & HCPC.
2.Member of BAOT/College of Occupational Therapists.
3.Interest in managing severe neuro-disability.
4.Proficient understanding of evidence-based practice.
5.Knowledge of physical assessment of complex neuro presentations.
6.Understanding of long-term neurological conditions.
Experience
Essential
1.Minimum of 18 months as a qualified OT and 6 months in neuro-disability.
2.Ability to prescribe and grade detailed treatment plans.
3.Flexibility and ability to respond to changing requirements.
4.Ability to prioritize and manage a large caseload.
Desirable
1.Interest in postural management and splinting.
