Pre-operative Assessment Staff Nurse - Private Hospital - Up to £36,000 per annum - Full-Time (37.5 hrs) - Kent

We are currently recruiting for a registered pre-operative assessment staff nurse to join our fantastic team in our Outpatients department. You will be required to plan and implement high standards of clinical care, including delivering health promotion and discharge advice for patients, following hospital guidelines and protocols, and promoting a patient-focused approach to care.

Department Overview:

The Outpatient department has 31 rooms covering many specialties.
The registered nurse role available is both interesting and varied within a large team offering plenty of support.
Clinics are open Monday to Saturday, offering a busy environment, so the candidate will need to have good organization and communication skills.
Our patient-centered approach ensures a positive and safe experience, which is key when triaging patients coming out of the clinic.
Procedures carried out in the department include dermatology minor surgery, patch tests, insertion of coils, venepuncture, ECGs, etc.
Role Overview:

This role is based in the Pre-Assessment team that assesses the patients' medical, social, and physical ability for fitness to undertake surgery, linking in with a multi-disciplinary team. This is a full-time, permanent position.

About the Role
  • Act as the patient's advocate, ensuring delivery of safe and effective care within the preoperative environment.
  • Assist the Preoperative Assessment Lead to ensure that the Preoperative Assessment Service is efficiently and effectively managed at all times.
  • Ensure patient care areas are safe, fit for purpose, and effectively maintained.
  • Ensure patient information data is correctly recorded in the appropriate IT systems.
  • Maintain the safe custody of medications.
  • Provide general supervision to junior members of the team, including providing clinical supervision/mentorship and being accountable for Preoperative Assessment in the absence of the Preoperative Assessment Lead.

Skills and Experience Required
  • First level Registered Nurse, preferably with some Preoperative Assessment experience.
  • ILS training or willingness to undertake training.
  • Basic phlebotomy and ECG monitoring experience or willingness to undertake training.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to build and support team working in a positive and challenging culture.
  • Strong patient-centered approach.
  • Sound computer skills, e.g., MS Office Suite and web-based reporting systems.
  • Foster a culture of professionalism and a positive working team environment.
  • Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and ethics in the workplace.
  • Methodical approach and attention to detail.
  • Flexible and adaptable.
  • Ability to work well in a pressurized environment.
