Fertility Nurse/Midwife Position – Watford Area - Fantastic Independent Clinic – Up to £42,000 (Depending on experience) – Full time

A fantastic new position has just popped up at an incredibly friendly Independent Fertility Clinic located around the Watford area. They are a specialist Clinic with a dedicated and friendly team of experts, offering a wide range of investigations, treatments and services, with the aim of ensuring that patients receive a uniquely tailored and supportive approach throughout each stage of their IVF journey.

Fertility Nurse/Midwife General Responsibilities
  • Assist in the day-to-day management and organization of the Unit.
  • Adhere to the Human Fertilisation & Embryology Authority (HFEA) Code of Practice, National Healthcare Standards, and the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Conduct.
  • Promote and maintain high standards of patient care by following agreed procedures and legal requirements.
  • Maintain safe control, storage, and administration of drugs and medicines dispensed from the Unit.
  • Communicate effectively with all Unit members to ensure continuity of patient care.
  • Establish and maintain good relationships with patients and relatives, respecting confidentiality in accordance with HFEA guidelines.
  • Report patient conditions or concerns to medical staff and ensure instructions are carried out promptly.
  • Protect patients from unnecessary physical and mental disturbance, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Maintain accurate records of patient treatment and outcomes of treatment cycles.
  • Increase knowledge of fertility treatment to assist patients in understanding complex procedures.
  • Act appropriately in emergencies and stressful situations.
  • Stay updated on cardiac arrest and fire procedures.
  • Promote the Unit’s role in both the private and NHS sectors.
  • Coordinate the Egg Donation Programme, liaising effectively with all parties involved.
  • Coordinate the Pre-Implantation Genetic Diagnosis programme with relevant departments and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the satellite program, ensuring effective communication with all involved parties.
Fertility Nurse/Midwife General Duties
  • Answer queries and provide information to prospective patients as requested.
  • Reassure and provide support to patients undergoing treatment or awaiting outcomes.
  • Act as a chaperone during consultations as required.
  • Provide detailed information and support following consultations.
  • Organize procedures such as HSG, Egg Collection, and Laparoscopy.
  • Liaise with other departments, including theatres, X-Ray, and Endocrine Laboratory, as well as medical staff like anaesthetists.
  • Provide counselling related to patient treatment in accordance with HFEA guidelines.
  • Complete relevant forms and documentation.
  • Administer prescribed injections to patients as needed.
  • Take blood and swabs for screening.
  • Perform pregnancy testing after treatment cycles.
  • Order and receive supplies and drugs.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for procedures.
  • Assist in all procedures carried out in the Unit.
  • Complete all associated paperwork.
  • Dispense drugs following Unit protocol.
 
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Midwife (RM)
  • RGN with at least 3 years post-registration experience
  • Gynaecological experience (essential)
  • Fertility and counselling experience (desirable)
