An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Surgical First Assistant to join the Theatre Department at a private hospital in West Sussex. This full-time role offers a competitive salary and the chance to work in a supportive, high-quality surgical environment.
As a Surgical First Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing safe and high-quality care to patients during their perioperative phase. The role requires flexibility in working hours to cover various shifts as needed.
Surgical First Assistant - Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- Registered Practitioner with NMC or HCPC registration
- ILS (Immediate Life Support) certification
- Mentorship qualification
- Maths and English GCSE at grades A to C or equivalent
- Proficiency in PC use, including relevant software and systems
- Experience in customer care, particularly in challenging situations
- Previous experience in an acute healthcare environment
As a Surgical First Assistant, you will:
- Deliver safe, quality care to patients during their perioperative phase
- Assist in the management and organization of care within the Operating Department
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the surgical department
- Develop and enhance both your own skills and knowledge, as well as support the development of others
- Apply and promote best evidence-based practice within your scope of practice
- Ensure compliance with legislation, policies, and procedures relevant to the role
- Maintain knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act and implement appropriate measures to ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors
- Assemble, check, and prepare surgical equipment, instruments, and consumables for a variety of operative procedures
