Overview:
We are working with a fantastic Private Clinic who is seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join their Operating Room team as their ophthalmic scrub. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in patient care and anatomy knowledge, ensuring the highest standards of safety and comfort for patients undergoing ophthalmic operations. This role requires a compassionate individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to delivering exceptional nursing care.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in patient care and anatomy knowledge, ensuring the highest standards of safety and comfort for patients undergoing ophthalmic operations. This role requires a compassionate individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to delivering exceptional nursing care.
Ophthalmic Scrub Nurse Duties:
- Prepare patients for surgery, ensuring they are informed and comfortable.
- Assist in the administration of anaesthesia and monitor patients' vital signs throughout the procedure.
- Collaborate with surgeons and other medical staff to ensure smooth operation during surgical procedures.
- Maintain a sterile environment by adhering to strict infection control protocols.
- Provide post-operative care, monitoring patients' recovery and addressing any concerns or complications.
- Document all nursing assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes accurately in medical records.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Ensure, in collaboration with the theatre manager, that the ophthalmic theatre is well stocked and ready to treat patients.
Ophthalmic Scrub Nurse Qualifications:
- Valid registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Registered Nurse.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology relevant to surgical procedures.
- Proven experience as an ophthalmic scrub nurse.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick decisions in emergency situations.
- Knowledge of cataract, vitreoretinal, and oculoplastic surgeries.
- Vitrectomy surgery Required
