Ophthalmic Scrub Nurse – Fantastic Independent Clinic - Up to £48,000 – South West London – Full time
 
Overview:
We are working with a fantastic Private Clinic who is seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join their Operating Room team as their ophthalmic scrub. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in patient care and anatomy knowledge, ensuring the highest standards of safety and comfort for patients undergoing ophthalmic operations. This role requires a compassionate individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to delivering exceptional nursing care.
 
Ophthalmic Scrub Nurse Duties:
  • Prepare patients for surgery, ensuring they are informed and comfortable.
  • Assist in the administration of anaesthesia and monitor patients' vital signs throughout the procedure.
  • Collaborate with surgeons and other medical staff to ensure smooth operation during surgical procedures.
  • Maintain a sterile environment by adhering to strict infection control protocols.
  • Provide post-operative care, monitoring patients' recovery and addressing any concerns or complications.
  • Document all nursing assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes accurately in medical records.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Ensure, in collaboration with the theatre manager, that the ophthalmic theatre is well stocked and ready to treat patients.
 
Ophthalmic Scrub Nurse Qualifications:
  • Valid registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Registered Nurse.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology relevant to surgical procedures.
  • Proven experience as an ophthalmic scrub nurse.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick decisions in emergency situations.
  • Knowledge of cataract, vitreoretinal, and oculoplastic surgeries.
  • Vitrectomy surgery Required
