Veterinary Surgeon – Starting from £45,000+ - Darlington - Prestigious, Independent, Family-Run Practice

Looking for a fresh start in a practice that values both your professional growth and your life outside of work? Join our team near Darlington, where you’ll find affordable home ownership, a great standard of living, and easy access to everything from the stunning Northumberland countryside to the vibrant city life of Newcastle and the historic charm of Durham.

Why Join Us?
We’re a Vet GPD registered practice and a nurse training practice. Our brand-new clinic boasts five consultation rooms, two theatres, separate cat and dog wards, and a dedicated euthanasia room. If you’re looking to put down roots, there’s even potential for succession within the practice.

We’re also fully equipped with everything you could possibly need and have a comprehensive in-house lab to support inpatient care. Professional development is a priority for us, and we’ll back you every step of the way.

What We’re Looking For
Leadership skills? Great, but not essential—we’ll support you with leadership training if that’s a path you’d like to explore. What really matters to us is your attitude and work ethic. We want someone who enjoys working in a close-knit team, takes the job seriously, but doesn’t take themselves too seriously.

Meet the Team
We won’t lie—we’re not your average, run-of-the-mill practice. We embrace our quirks and wear our weirdness with pride. Our four-vet team ranges from recent graduates to a Surgery Certificate holder, and we have a close connection with our sister practice and a nearby referral hospital for extra support.
We believe in collaboration and continuous learning. Weekly vet meetings, a dedicated Vet Slack group for quick decision-making, and a monthly Microsoft Teams journal club keep us all engaged with Evidence-Based Veterinary Medicine (EBVM). Even our non-clinical team members enjoy getting involved!

The Work
  • Varied caseload, from budget-friendly solutions to gold-standard care

  • Comprehensive facilities and equipment
The Perks
  • Salary: £40,000 - £65,000 (depending on experience/certification)
