Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Unit Manager to join our team at our Dementia Nursing Home in Cockermouth, Cumbria. Our home is proud to have received a Good rating from the CQC, and we are looking for a passionate individual to help maintain and further enhance our standards of care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the dementia unit, ensuring the highest standards of care and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Lead, motivate, and manage the nursing and care staff, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans, ensuring that the physical, emotional, and social needs of each resident are met.
- Monitor and evaluate care delivery, making necessary adjustments to ensure the best outcomes for residents.
- Liaise with residents’ families, GPs, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and effective care.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to maintain compliance with CQC standards and internal policies.
- Manage budgets and resources effectively, ensuring cost-efficient operations without compromising on quality.
- Handle any complaints or concerns promptly and professionally, ensuring satisfactory resolutions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and documentation in line with legal and organizational requirements.
- Promote a positive and inclusive working environment, fostering teamwork and collaboration among staff.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Registered Nurse (RGN/RMN) with valid NMC Pin.
- Proven experience in a managerial or leadership role within a healthcare setting, preferably in dementia care.
- Excellent knowledge of CQC standards and regulations.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- A compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
